It’s time to go mad
with March Madness;

Terri McLaughlin
Senior Admissions Counselor
Western Illinois University

or this year it has been nicknamed the “March to Motown.” The final championship game will be held in Detroit, Michigan. The excitement has grown so much that championship game will be held at Ford Field which is the Detroit Lions football stadium.

Sixty-four college basketball teams will begin the “tip off” on Thursday at 11:00 AM. The games will continue all the way to April 6th. Join the madness by going on the ESPN website and printing a bracket. Pick your favorite college teams and follow the excitement until the end when “One Shining Moment” will recap the highlights immediately following the final game.

The games tip off with the Butler Bull Dogs and the Tigers of Louisiana State University battling for a spot in the next round. The games continue until teams are eliminated and the lucky few will remain in the Sweet Sixteen. There are opportunities for unknowns to become stars and underdogs to end up at the top of the heap. The elite eight that remain will end up in the final four and then battle for the final championship.

It will be hard for you to see all the games but catch as many as you can. Whether you are going away to college, attending a community college or taking another career path March Madness is great entertainment and a great way to experience college pride. Stay up late on April 6th for the final round and “one shining moment” as it is worth missing a little sleep for.
