| What
is the National College Fair? |
Since
1972, the National College Fairs (NCF) program has
aided students in fulfilling their educational aspirations.
Free and open to the public, the fairs allow students
to interact with admission representatives from a
wide range of postsecondary institutions to discuss
course offerings, admission and financial aid requirements,
college life in general, and other information pertinent
to the college selection process.

What
is an ICE fair?
Which colleges are coming to the ICE program in
your area? |
An
Illinois College Exposition, or ICE fair, is a program
that, at a minimum, accommodates students and parents
from two counties, or an entire community college
district, or from a State of Illinois regional school
district. The program is usually planned and executed
by three or more schools. Participating schools do
not host duplicate programs. The ICE fair is attended
by 500 or more students and parents and 100 or more
college/university admission representatives. A calendar
of ICE fairs can be found on the IACAC website. See
below.

What
should I expect and what should I do at college
fairs?
Is it worth my time to go to one? |
At
a college fair you can expect a number of colleges,
universities, branches of the military, and other
organizations to be set up in an expo-like setting.
They will have materials for you to take home to read
at a later date, they will have staff members available
to tell you about the institution they represent,
and answer any questions you may have. You will learn
about things like admission requirements, financial
aid, and testing.
You
should definitely attend a college fair in your area.
It will give you a good idea of what options are available
to you. You should come prepared to meet with college
representatives, ask questions, gather materials,
and plan for your future!
